Samantha joined TurksLegal in December 2014.
Samantha’s key areas of practice are in commercial and banking litigation, commercial disputes and insolvency, debt recovery, security enforcement, winding up and bankruptcy.
Her clients include banks, insolvency practitioners, insurers and small businesses that she has assisted on a range of security and loan enforcement, insolvency and restructuring issues.
Samantha conducts matters on behalf of banks and insolvency practitioners in various State courts around Australia (from Local/ Magistrates Court to the Supreme Court), Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
Samantha regularly acts for the Banks in enforcing their securities, which may include mortgage enforcement, asset finance facilities or residual collections, and adopts approaches to ensure an effective commercial outcome is achieved. She has worked closely with business units and compliance within a financial institution to identify risk and implement appropriate practice and procedure to ensure it meets regulatory obligations.
She has acted for insolvency practitioners in various aspects of an insolvency administration, including claims against directors, preference claims and conducting public examinations.
She had the opportunity to undertake a secondment at one of the major banks. During this time, she works with the teams in the Asset Realisations, Asset Finance and Litigation areas of the bank.
Samantha supervises and is responsible for the training of a team of junior lawyers, paralegals and clerks in relation to legal issues and processed as well as training in the specific practices adopted for major clients.
